Vera Songwe
Vera Songwe (Cameroon) is the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, the organ of the United Nations which contributes to the research of solutions to issues related to the development of the African continent and encourages regional integration. The reforms that Vera Songwe has implemented in her position have brought to the fore crucial issues of stability, development, growth and inequality. At the same time, she is also Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. She also headed the World Bank activities in Western and Central Africa. In 2016, she was among the nine experts gathered by the Rwandan President Paul Kagame in order to propose a reform of the African Union.
